CRSA West Metro Parents,
We hope that you’re looking forward to the upcoming season with us at CRSA West Metro. We have a few changes this season, that I hope will help us better serve your children. In an attempt to make it easier for families with multiple players, we will be streamlining our practice sessions on Monday/Thursday nights from 6:30-8:00.
In years past, the typical practice situation was two (1) hour practices a week. If you are unable to make the Thursday night practice, then you’re not missing the entire 2 hour practice session that you were getting last season. If you can make both, you’re getting an additional hour of training a week.
When we have our training nights, it will be with the entire age group at one time. Training sessions will be filled with fun activities that I hope will have the players wanting more. Staff coaches from Congaree Rapid Soccer Association will be there to run the training sessions. We also hope that we will continue to have parent volunteers, who don’t mind helping us facilitate the practice plan for that particular night.
For the first full 3 weeks of training, the games will be played on Sunday as usual. However, the implementation of the games will be different. Rosters won’t be set at this time. Each Sunday, every player will be assigned a field to meet at and we will play some games that focus on the topics covered in that week’s practice. The games will emphasize skill and will be used to determine your child’s placement on teams in their respective age groups. We will be playing in 3v3 and 4v4 formats. The idea here is that we’re trying to get away from teams being rostered based off of requests and trying to get to a more equal field of play. Hopefully, the more success everyone is enjoying, the more the kids will want to play! Once the teams are formed, the regular season will commence.
